Space Invader at La Générale
The Thousandth Space Invader in Paris !
On the occasion of the Thousandth Space Invader posed in Paris, Space Invader presents at La Générale an exhibition entitled "1000", where he staged his creations around the Rubik's cube. First of all the place, a space of 500m ² and 9m high in an industrial architecture of the early twentieth century, which allows the artist to create an urban space. Sounds, colors, lights, stickers stuck everywhere, we are not in a classic art gallery with paintings on white wall.
We enter in the exhibition by a container where a mirror ball returns Space Invaders on all walls. Our steps creak on dozens of mosaic tiles spread on the floor. At the exit, we discover a giant Rubik's cube in which are exposed "paintings" still created with Rubik's cube. Welcome in the world of rubikcubisme! Reproduction of album covers, paintings of great painters including "The Great Wave" by Hokusai or a portrait of André the Giant. Pixelated works that you can better see through the screen of a mobile phone or digital, which plays on the optical effects. Upstairs are 1000 photos of the Space Invaders posed in Paris, with maps of the cities in the world who have been invaded, including Paris, Montpellier, Avignon, New York, Bilbao ...
Space Invader leaves his mark everywhere in this exhibition. Sofa Space Invader, traffic light Space Invader, sign, shoes, and even a waffle Space Invader-shaped for those who have the munchies at the end of the show! Some Space Invaders have disappeared from the walls of the capital, stolen or destroyed, but there is still more than 950 to be discovered. The latest found HERE !
